Students from UCC Graduate School received their diplomas and certificates in the 48th Hooding and Commencement Exercises this Friday, July 22, at Caloocan City Sports Complex.

Hosted by Dr. Severino M. Jocson, Dr. Bernadette B. Enriquez, and Prof. Catlleya Yee, the program was attended by 1,015 graduates from different master and doctorate programs on all university campuses.

The event was also attended by the College Deans, Board of Regents, Vice Presidents, and other university and city officials, including the newly-elected Congressman Hon. Oscar ‘Oca’ Malapitan and Mayor Hon. Dale ‘Along’ Malapitan.

Wearing hoods and turning tassels was led by the vice chairman and OIC of the University of Caloocan City, Dr. Marilyn T. De Jesus.

Congressman Oca Malapitan gave his inspirational message to the graduates and congratulated the new Masters and Doctors who have persevered to reach their flying colors.

“Edukasyon ang solusyon para makaahon sa kahirapan,” Congressman Malapitan highlighted in his speech as he promised to prioritize education in the city.

On the other hand, Mayor Along Malapitan also shared his inspiring story and acknowledged the hard work of students in making their theses. Just like what his father said, he promised that he will improve the university and the education in the city.

“Tignan mo ngayon, ‘di madali pero nandito ka kasamang nagdiriwang sa tagumpay mo,” Malapitan said as he ended his speech.

A video presentation was shown on the screen showing the long journey of the graduates. Then it was followed by the most-awaiting part of the event where the graduates marched onto the stage receiving the paper that symbolizes their hard work— their diplomas and certificates.

Moreover, Dr. Rodrigo M. Dantay Jr. delivered the message of gratitude and led the graduates on their Pledge of Loyalty to Alma Mater while Dr. Teodoro A. Macaraeg Jr. led the Oath as a Member of the Alumni Association.

The University of Caloocan City has produced thousands of talented, hard-working, and determined masters and doctors this year. TNC of the North is giving its toast to all the graduates. Mainit na Pagbati!
